Paul Miller
Paul came to Peckham in 2001, with a personal goal of finding a satisfying job that would accommodate his disability and need for flexibility. Paul found fulfilling work in the automotive department, and worked diligently to achieve his goals. He was able to move into his own apartment (Peckham Housing), he is an accomplished artist in the Art for the Heart program and is an active member of the Advocacy Team.
During his time at Peckham, Paul has served in the community as a passionate advocate for persons with disabilities, has participated in campaigns and spoken at rallies on public transportation issues and voters rights. Paul took advantage of his opportunities at Peckham, and eventually earned a position with Michigan Disabilities Rights Coalition as an Inclusion Specialist.
Paul is ecstatic about achieving his goal of self-sufficiency and independence.
Kim Munro
Kim Munro came to Peckham as a volunteer in 2007.
She wanted additional training to increase her skill level and meet her goal of obtaining community employment. Kim uses a wheelchair and has both physical and visual challenges.
With a mission to provide an opportunity for Kim to excel, staff worked collaboratively to build on Kim’s strengths. With their combined efforts and Kim’s motivation to succeed, she is now an office aide to the Marketing, Finance, Administration and Human Resources departments.
These efforts have provided a platform for Kim to gain a sense of self-awareness, confidence and a realization of her abilities in the work-force.
