Other Services
Peckham is one of six nationwide community rehabilitation programs to host and facilitate AmeriCorps Financial Support Services (FSS) through the national AmeriCorps program.
The program began in 2009, and is funded through a three year grant and partnership with the Cerebral Palsy Research Foundation and the NISH Institute for Economic Empowerment.
AmeriCorps FSS provides financial support to approximately 2,000 low-income workers, many with disabilities. The goal is to assist individuals and families to move toward financial self-sufficiency with tax preparation assistance, disability benefit supports and financial education.
Americorps/VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) representatives provide financial literacy classes and educational resource fairs to clients as well as other qualifying individuals within the community.
Peckham and the Peckham Community Partnership Foundation supports a variety of vocational activities for Peckham clients and their families including:
Adult Learning
With support from the Peckham Community Partnership Foundation, we provide adult learning courses for our clients. Through English for Speakers of Other Languages and citizenship preparation classes, individuals work closely with instructors and peer tutors to reach individual goals.
ART from the HEART
This program provides an outlet for creative expression for individuals with disabilities. By providing a supportive and noncompetitive environment, participants discover and strengthen artistic talents.
Exhibits, artist receptions and a visiting artist series enrich the program. ART from the HEART is supported by the Peckham Community Partnership Foundation.
Job Accommodation
This program examines how to help fit the job to the person. We focus on supports for individuals, specific disabilities or disability classes, and using process improvements to make work more accessible.
By using automation and assistive technology, inaccessible positions are now accessible to employees at all levels to improve individual and business line performance.
Career Adventure
This program allows clients and their children to explore a variety of career options and vocational interest through job shadows, evaluations and assessments.
Technology Resources
Through three computer labs, an internet cafe, ongoing class offerings and more, Peckham seeks to lessen the digital divide by providing access to technology in many different settings.
