Youth Career Academy

The Youth Career Academy (YCA) is a cutting edge vocational program providing services to high school students who attend Ingham Academy.

Students who are enrolled in the program have the opportunity to complete vocational assessments, develop a professional portfolio, participate in numerous job shadows, and earn the privilege to experience work first hand through Peckham's on the job training. YCA is a place where students can learn how to be successful as they navigate into the working world. YCA strictly adheres to the most reliable research to develop the most effective programming.

The Skilled Trades Program will offer the NCCER Core Curriculum: Introductory Craft Skills, ultimately providing students with a nationwide recognized credential in the trades. Peckham's Skilled Trades program is an affiliate program of the Greater Michigan Construction Academy. In Michigan, careers in the trades industry are in high demand and provide high wages.

The initial cohort of students to engage in this hands-on curriculum are students from the Peckham Career Academy (referred from the 30th Judicial Circuit Court). Training opportunities will quickly expand to Jobs for Michigan's Graduates students and Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) youth.  Please help us celebrate this opportunity to train our future workforce!
