Peckham 2018- 2019 Annual Report
This year’s intentional focus on “Different is Awesome (diversity)” and “WE” is the password (community) core values has allowed us to shape and strengthen the impact we make on those we serve each day. After 43 years, Peckham is now serving more individuals with diverse abilities than we ever have, and we have successful operations in more communities than we’ve ever been. This growth led us to a new brand and refreshed look, as we re-invigorated our image and affirmed our dual focus on mission and business.
Our belief in the power of community enabled us to create strong partnerships that inspired and funded the Capital Region International Airport first art installation, the Gateway to Inclusion. Through collaboration, a focus on diversity and integration of people with barriers, we created a beautiful and dynamic visual representation of the city of Lansing, MI, and the core values of Peckham.
This same community energy is what successfully led us to our expansion in the Flint, MI, region, allowing us to provide manufacturing jobs and vocational rehabilitation to a community that has long been underserved. This growth strategy has already been providing major dividends as we’ve successfully employed nearly 50 individuals with disabilities, and expanded educational and job training services to Flint area youth.
This year was also one of significant transition and change. As we look back and honor our great history and foundation, we look toward the future and re-envision ourselves. Through leadership changes, diversification of jobs, expansion of locations and shifting of services, we maintain a continued focus on our mission and working to build inclusive communities where people with disabilities thrive.
We believe Peckham will remain a sustainable, innovative and thriving organization for years to come - an organization that believes in the power of community, of shared purpose and vision, and the incredible value of creating meaningful and diverse opportunities for those with barriers to realize their full potential.
