PECKHAM IN ACTION

LANSING, MI- Peckham has been named the Diversity Star award winner by the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce (LRCC) in the large employer category. The new regional award recognizes organizations in the greater Lansing community that champion diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace.

The Diversity Star Award honors companies and organizations that demonstrate a solid commitment to advancing equity and creating inclusive environments, champion efforts for diversity and equitable practices in the workplace and beyond, support underserved and underrepresented employees and communities and contribute to a more just and equitable region.

“Peckham is honored and excited to be named as the first organization to receive this new Diversity Star Award from the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce. The power of diversity has always been at the forefront of our mission, helping us to better serve each individual and yielding more successful workplace outcomes,” said Jo Sinha, Peckham President & CEO. “This award is a direct result of the positive impact made when organizations invest in creating work environments that are not only diverse, but inclusive of people with all kinds of abilities.”

The award-winning employer has been certified as a Great Place to Work for seven consecutive years and received the Gold Hire Vets Medallion Award by the U.S. Department of Labor for two consecutive years, demonstrating exemplary efforts to recruit, employ, and retain veterans. Peckham has also been among organizations honored for exceptional service to others and their communities by Representative Elisa Slotkin and was included in the official Congressional Record of the People’s House.

Peckham is a nonprofit vocational rehabilitation organization that provides paid job training opportunities for people with disabilities and other barriers to employment. For 45 years, Peckham has provided jobs and job skills training to thousands of individuals with barriers through five different business lines throughout Michigan, with additional operations in Phoenix, Arizona and London, Kentucky.
